PMR GCA Scotland
Support for Polymyalgia and Giant Cell Arteritis Sufferers in Scotland
WILL YOU HELP US?
There are various ways you can help PMR-GCA Scotland grow to reach more people who need us (and when they find us, they are often reassured that they are not the only one struggling with the conditions).
As you probably realise, we do not get any government or other routine funding and rely on donations from individuals as well as trust funds etc. We have no paid staff so are incredibly grateful to our volunteers to keep things going.
We are looking for two more Helpline volunteers. Full training will be given as needed (in Edinburgh). Personal knowledge of the condition(s), an ability to listen and access to a phone & computer are essential.
Patient representatives to guide the Board of Trustees and ensure that what we do is in the best interests of the charity’s objectives. Meet four times a year (currently) in Dundee. Travel expenses will be paid.
Trustees also needed. The task will be as time consuming as the volunteer decides to make it with a minimum of attending four meetings a year. Much of the work is dealt with by email or phone. Understanding of the challenges of running a small, but very important, charity would be very helpful.
Volunteer to assist with administration (checking emails etc.). Mainly working from home. PC skills essential.
For more information about any of the above opportunities, please email email@example.com
BECOME A SUPPORTER and FRIEND
If you would like to support the charity but don’t have the conditions, the process is the same as for MEMBERSHIP (so above this box) but please let us know on the application form that you are wishing to become a supporter and friend. You too will receive a NewsWire three times a year and an invitation to our Annual Meeting (along with our Annual Report).
If you are looking for more information about the conditions, please either complete the contact form or send an email to us with as much detail as possible to allow us to send you suitable material.
The minimum information to provide is
1. Full name (Title, first name and surname)
2. Condition (PMR, GCA or both)
3. Full UK Postal address including post code.
Our email address is firstname.lastname@example.org (if you right click over the address, you can then copy it to your email programme)
When we receive your request, we will email you back to acknowledge receipt, maybe ask for clarification about what information would be most appropriate and take the opportunity to check that you are a real person. To give you confidence that it is genuinely us, the email will only come from email@example.com. Enquiries from elsewhere should be treated with caution and we would advise that you take care not to divulge personal information. If you are at all uncertain, do ring the Helpline and let them know that you have received such an email (0300 777 5090). We are sure you will understand this need.
Please note that we can only post material within the UK and, although we focus on Scotland, we are happy to talk to anyone who needs us, but would draw your attention to the England and Wales charity (PMRGCAuk) and elsewhere in the world. They will have a better understanding of health care in their countries or regions. Please also note that when you contact us your details will be entered onto our database.
CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: Your email address, name and any other information you provide such as address and phone number are held in strict confidence. We only keep your information so that we can keep in touch with you. We do not sell or share your information with anyone else. If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer wish to keep in contact, you may correct, update or deactivate it by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org We will respond to your request as quickly as possible and certainly within 30 days. We will retain your information only as long as you remain interested in this charity and at your request will delete your details from our database.
