How To Help
By investing a little time, you will be able to help sufferers of PMR and GCA in Scotland
How To Help
There are various ways to support us, please give:
Your Time
Support Us
There are various ways you can help PMR-GCA Scotland grow to reach more people who need us. Once individuals contact us, they can be reassured that they are not alone.
We do not get any government or other regular funding, we rely on donations as well as small grants. We have no paid staff, so are incredibly grateful to our volunteers to keep things going.
Volunteer
Would you like to join our helpline team, become a trustee, attend committee meetings, or be a patient representative?
Helpline: Join our team of telephone helpline volunteers. Personal knowledge of the condition(s) is an advantage, but full training will be given.
Trustee: Become a trustee and help manage the charity. We hold four meetings a year.
Committee Meetings: Our trustee meetings are open to all members. Come along to hear more about the charity’s activities and plans and have the opportunity to contribute ideas and expertise to ongoing developments.
Patient Representative: As a patient representative, you will be able to guide the trustees in putting forward members interests.

Become A Member
Membership is completely free and open to those suffering from PMR and / or GCA, or anyone else interested in the work of the charity, including medical professionals.
As a member or supporter, you will receive a magazine, NewsWire, three times a year, plus an invitation to our annual Member’s Day and AGM. Find out more about membership.
Fundraise For Us
Would you, or someone you know, like to fundraise (with the emphasis on the fun) for us, by taking part in an event, or organise your own event to solely benefit us?
Use Contact us to get in touch and tell us. We can then discuss your event, how we may assist, and give your fundraising a ‘name’ as an identifier/keyword. If your participants will be paying money direct to us, you’ll need to tell them the ‘keyword’.
Ideally, your contact as the organiser with us should be before the event – but don’t panic if you can’t do this. Please simply use our Contact Us page as soon as you can, to advise your intentions and ask us for a ‘keyword’ before passing any money to us.
NEW FOR 2025 ONWARD: We have adapted our simple online donate to allow individuals to use that to make a direct online payment to us for your ‘named’ event, i.e. using our ‘simply sponsor‘. This is our preferred and simple payment method.
Alternatively, you can still download either our Gathering (for say meetings, coffee mornings, parties, raffles or quizzes) or Sponsorship (for events e.g. sponsored walk or run, or even the marathon) forms below. Print additional copies if you need more (and consecutively number the 11th donor onwards, as each form is for 10 donors only). If you are unable to print yourself, please request forms from us.
Your Money
Donate
We cannot emphasise enough just how much we need, and appreciate, your donations, both big and small; your money is the life blood which keeps PMR GCA Scotland going. Thank you!
Please continue to contribute, even in these times. There are various donation methods available and you can find out more on our donate page, including information on Gift Aid.
Simply Sponsor
NEW FOR 2025 ONWARD: To avoid confusion with any other fundraising body, we have simply extended our easy online donate to allow anyone to safely make payment to us direct online for a ‘named event’.
In order to use ‘Simply Sponsor’ online:
- Complete the online donate as usual (including any Gift Aid) then, in that process
- Tick ‘yes’ to ‘Simply Sponsor’, and then
- Add, in the space provided, the ‘keyword’ of the event or gathering (as provided by us to the organiser and, in turn, given to you by the event organiser/main participant)
‘Simply Sponsor’ – solely using our website with no need to visit any other!
Your Legacy
Gift in Your Will
Have you considered leaving something to us at PMR-GCA Scotland? How about simply making a ‘Gift in Your Will’ (legacy)?
For information about making a ‘Gift in Your Will’ to us go to our leave a legacy page.
Legal
When making any legacy, including a ‘Gift in Your Will’ to us, it is always advisable to take legal advice sooner rather than later.
Visit our leave a legacy page about seeking advice/appointing a solicitor.
Your Sponsorship
Can You or Your Organisation Be An Angel?
From time to time we are approached to assist with a worthy PMR-GCA endeavour.
If we can, and it is within our remit and our budget, we will, of course, normally oblige. However, sometimes the request, whilst perfectly valid, needs more.
If your organisation is able to assist us in any way we shall be very pleased to hear from you. If you want to become a valued sponsor please contact us.
Companies & Charitable Bodies
Sincere thanks to every corporate and charitable body who regularly, or even periodically, bestows funds on PMR-GCA Scotland. As an, admittedly small, gesture of our gratitude, we feel we can at least give public recognition to this benevolence by displaying your logo on our site as a valued sponsor and putting a link to your website, but we will only do this with your permission.
