    Spring always feels like an optimistic time of year. The harshness of winter is behind us with the promise of brighter days ahead. I’m feeling similarly optimistic when I look through the contents of this edition. Yes, there are many things that need to be improved for patients – not least speedier diagnoses and more readily available information – and yet there are so many advances being made, both within the charity and within the wider medical community, that we should be reassured we are moving in the right direction.

    Back in the summer when I wrote my Welcome to the previous edition of NewsWire, I had no idea how successful the Marathon in a Month campaign.
